Curriculum
Dr. Espín (Barcelona, 1976) is a specialist in General and Digestive Surgery. He completed his training as a resident at the Hospital de Mataró (Barcelona), class of 2005-2010. He has also developed part of his training at King’s College Hospital in London (United Kingdom). Doctorate Cum laude by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, extraordinary prize of Doctoral Thesis in surgery 2014.
He has worked as an attending physician in the Hepatobilio-pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation Unit at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (2010-2013) and later became part of the Gastrointestinal Surgery team at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (2013-2014).
He currently works as a specialist physician in the Hepobiliopancreatic Surgery Unit at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital of Badalona (Barcelona).

Scientific approach
Dr. Francisco Espin is the author of more than 30 national and international scientific articles in indexed publications with an impact of scientific production (ORCID_Web of Knowledge) of 98 total citations in 89 papers (h-index: 5). He is also author of 2 book chapters and has collaborated in a CIBERehd group of the Carlos III Institute of which he is currently part of as a research group (SGR).
Interested in technological innovation and minimally invasive surgery, he is currently working on the development of the robotic approach in the field of HPB surgery. As well as in the transmission of knowledge and dissemination of this.
